FAQ

What is CBLSL?

CBLSL is the longest running LGBTQ sports organization in the City of Philadelphia. It has been around for over 40 years and promotes LGBTQ inclusion on and off the softball fields.

When are games held?

Games are played on Sundays from April through June. Games are typically played anywhere from 9am-5pm.

Where are games played?

We play in Fairmount Park right off of Kelly Drive. If you are coming down Kelly Drive (away from the city and towards East Falls) our fields are off our Reservoir Drive. We play at the Dairy Fields near Smith Playground and the Edgely Fields.

How much does the league cost?

Player fees usually run about $65. This covers your participation in the league, field maintenance and umpire fees. Jerseys are left to the discretion of the team managers.

What are the different divisions?

We have four different divisions within the league. Men's competitive, Open recreational, Women's+ recreational and Women's+ competitive.

How do I get placed on a team?

New players will receive an email this spring about our Recruitment Day. New players will come do infield and outfield drills to assess their skill level. Players will then be assigned to a team. Skills Day is followed by a Pub Crawl to meet their new team members.

Some players may already have been asked to be on an existing team.  This is allowed but it is asked that you still come to our recruitment day.

What are the benefits of joining CBLSL?

CBLSL is not just about coming together and playing softball, but about coming together as a community and meeting new people. The league is all about sportsmanship, comradery and fun. Teams become more like family and after 40 years we have seen this tradition be continuous.

What if I do not identify within the LGBTQ community, can I still play?

While the league identifies as an LGBTQ sports organization, we also welcome any of our straight allies as well. The league is comprised of those identifying within the community as well as its supporters. We welcome anyone who supports the LGBTQ community to join the league!
