About the League

What is the C.B.L.S.L.?

The CIty of Brotherly Love Softball League is one of the largest LGBTQ sports organization in the City of Philadelphia. It has been  around for over 40 years and promotes LGBTQ inclusion on and off the softball fields.

When are games held?

Games are played on Sundays from April-mid July. Games are typically played anywhere from 9am-5pm.

Where are games played?

We play in Fairmount Park right off of Kelly Drive. If you are coming down Kelly Drive (away from the city and towards East Falls) our fields are off our Reservoir Drive. We play at the Dairy Fields near Smith Playground and the Edgely Fields.

How much does the league cost?

Player fees usually run about $65. This covers your participation in the league, field maintenance and umpire fees. Jerseys are left to the discretion of the team managers.

What are the different divisions?

We have four different divisions within the league. Open Competitive, Open Recreational, Women's Competitive, and Women's Recreational.

What are the benefits of joining the C.B.L.S.L.?

The C.B.L.S.L. is not just about coming together and playing softball, but about coming together as a community and meeting new people. The league is all about sportsmanship and fun. Teams become more like family and after 40 years this tradition has become continuous.

What if I do not identify within the LGBTQ community, can I still play?

While the league identifies as an LGBTQ sports organization, we also welcome any of our allies as well. The league is comprised of those identifying within the community as well as its supporters. We welcome anyone who supports the LGBTQ community to join the league!
